Classic planes, classic cars – all add up to a class day out!

A Lot of people who love classic cars will also love classic planes so I decided to goto the revamped Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, World War II airfield The star attraction being the Halifax World War II bomber, my Rolls Royce and of course the grandkids for the day!

There must be over 60 classic aircraft to see including replica’s of the Spitfire and Hurricane. There is also a number of 1960’s jet fighter planes and the famous Dakota airline.

The kids had loads of space to run about, nothing boring or restrictive at the museum, they particularly loved the simulator and were full of stories of how they had flown a plane when they got home to Mum and Dad.

The cafe was great value for money and good homemade local food, Elsa loved the cakes (and so did I!)

On the way home, a quick stop off at Beningbrough Hall for a blast on the adventure playground and just to make sure the standards were as good as ever – we limited ourselves to one piece of cake and shared it, much to Ryder’s disappointment!
